Is This Place Called Home?

Buford came to me at work via a ride on the engine of a SUV. In front of the shop, he tumbled out of the vehicle and staggered out into the parking lot. It was very hot and he was wet through, not to mention covered thickly in fleas. The owners of the SUV told us they had no cats at home so I ended up putting him in a box in the backroom with a saucer of water. I stayed long enough to make sure he drank a little then went back to work.

As soon as I was out of sight, he began to squall and to jump. I have never seen a cat to this day who jumps like Bu does, straight up with amazing strength and accuracy. He has managed to break more things than both the girls combined. I had no choice but to hold him the rest of the workday. He snuggled just under the flap of my cardigan sweater all day. If I held him he was okay, if I put him down he rivaled the neighbor's old fashioned burglar alarm.

We needed another cat like another hole in the head, but despite my best efforts, no one who came in wanted a kitten. So needless to say, he came home with me. After multiple flea baths and massive amounts of pet safe flea spray -for both of us- we turned him loose in his new home.
